Frequently Asked Questions

I’m interested in the Comprehensive Package but only want to work with Oliver. Is this possible?

Oliver takes a handful of students each year on a case-by-case basis. If you’d like to set up a free 20-minute meeting to discuss, contact him directly at oliver@principiatutors.com.

Is there any difference between packages besides the number of hours allotted?

With the exception of the One School Package, there’s no difference between the services we offer in our packages, and we’ll always use the time in a manner that maximizes your student’s admissions chances.

What’s the difference between hourly and package consulting?

The biggest difference is between-meetings access — for hourly consulting, our services are limited to in-session only, whereas package consulting includes between-meetings access to answer emailed questions and offer remote editing and research support.

How does billing work?

For packages, we bill for the first half-payment upon sign-up and the second payment during the summer. If you’d like to discuss payment plans, please get in touch with our office coordinator at info@principiatutors.com.

I waited until the last minute and now my application is due in a week. Can you help?

We can accommodate last-minute requests as long as we have availability — for more information on our rush delivery fees, contact us directly.

When do you recommend getting started?

For current juniors, we recommend a meeting around spring break and beginning the writing process over the summer — our goal is to complete the bulk of application work by the end of the summer so students can focus on first semester grades.

But what if I want to start right away? Can we start in January of junior year, for example?

Yes, our preference is always to start the college application process as soon as possible. In addition, some students have summer sports and work commitments that make regular summer meetings difficult; in those cases, we often begin the process in January of junior year with the goal of having as much done as possible by the start of the summer.
