Puzzled by periods, plasma, and positrons? Power through your way to an A with our AP Physics classes. With review sessions and practice tests, you’ll know everything about friction and Newton’s laws in no time.

AP Physics 1 and 2 are both algebra-based introductory college-level physics courses. Through inquiry-based investigation, they focus on topics such as circular motion and gravitation, electric charge and electric force, magnetism and electromagnetic induction, geometric and physical optics, and nuclear physics.

AP Physics Mechanics: C is a calculus-based introductory college-level physics course exploring kinematics; Newton’s Laws of Motion; work, energy, and power; systems of particles and linear momentum; circular motion and rotation; oscillations; and gravitation.

Tomaj | B.A. Math + Physics, University of Maryland, College Park | Sr. Math Director

Tomaj has been tutoring math and physics for over seven years; his love for teaching drove him to becoming a full time tutor, and in 2018 he won the teacher of the year award for the highest satisfaction rate from his students. Tomaj views teaching as a fun, interactive process in which he uses imagery and analogy to translate the abstract and often elusive concepts into relatable experiences in the student’s daily life. Tomaj is a published author and has written a book on the philosophy of quantum physics; while his evenings are devoted to tutoring, his day time is devoted to writing and blogging about science and philosophy.

Max | B.A. in Mathematics, University of Pittsburgh | Math Director

Max graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012 with a degree in mathematics and a minor in physics. He has worked as a full-time high school math teacher in Colorado and New Orleans and as a senior math and science curriculum developer at Edmentum. He continues to marvel at the way math is able to explain and model various phenomena in the world, and he loves nothing more than achieving that “light bulb” moment with his students.

Abby | M.A. Applied Economics, University of Maryland, College Park

Abby triple-majored in Math, Physics, and Economics at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and holds an M.A. in Applied Economics from the University of Maryland. She specializes in Algebra II and Calculus instruction and has devoted over a thousand hours volunteering in disaster relief for the Red Cross.

Ethan | PhD Physics (In Progress), George Mason University

Ethan is currently pursuing his PhD in Physics, building on his math and physics courses of study at Brigham Young University. As a former and current researcher of astrophysics, quantum field theory/string theory, and condensed matter physics, Ethan brings a wealth of knowledge in math and physics tutoring to Principia.
